The Worlds Biggest and Scariest Spiders

The Worlds Biggest and Scariest Spiders

The worlds biggest and scariest spiders scariest, creepy crawlies.
I'm not a fan of spiders, not even the small ones. If there is a spider near my bed anywhere at night, I choose not to sleep rather then remove it. They just give me the creeps. Like they do with most people actually.
I'm just glad that I live in a country where the size of spiders is fairly small. Especially compared to those in the following clips.

How do you know if someone is having a stroke?

Helping someone who has had a stroke

Strokes are one the top five killers in America today. Here is some useful information regarding strokes.

How do you know if someone is having a stroke?

A close member of my family suffered from a severe stroke just over a year ago, and unfortunately this has left him unable to walk and bed bound.  The circumstances surrounding this were possibly worse then normal as he is an elderly gentleman and it was over 24 hours before he was found. This therefore made it difficult to get the necessary treatment promptly. We were also unaware exactly what had happened to him at the time and the severity of the stroke.
A recent advertisement launched this week has made it simple to spot the signs of a stroke.
Remembering these simple rules may help save someones life as it is.

These rules are to act fast

  • FACE- If you notice their face dropping on one side, and they are unable to smile properly
  • ARMS- If ones side of their body becomes limp and they find it difficult to use their arms, hands & legs properly
  • SPEECH- If their speech becomes slurred
  • TIME is precious in these circumstances, therefore call for an ambulance as quickly as possible without hesitation.
You may find the following website very useful in terms of offering further information on strokes:
http://www.nhs.uk/actfast/Pages/default.aspx
Below i have listed a few short, sharp facts regarding strokes. This will hopefully make you think and act quicker if you think someone is suffering a stroke.

A stroke is caused when the oxygen to the brain is disrupted, which causes the brain tissue to die.

  • Approximately 15 million people suffer from strokes worldwide every year..
  • Approximately 5 million of these are left permanently disabled.
  • Approximately 5 million of these will die.
  • Over half a million people who suffer strokes every year are American.
  • Over 100,000 people who suffer stroke live in the UK
  • There are 2 main types of Strokes :
    • Ischemic (the most common type of stroke) - deprives the brain tissue of oxygen due to a blood clot or plaque in an artery.
    • Hemorrhagic - caused by broken blood vessels in the brain/bleeding into brain tissue.
  • Some of the main risk factors that contribute to the cause of strokes include:
    • Smoking
    • High Blood Pressure
    • Diabetes
    • High Cholesterol
    • Atrial Fibrillation
    • Age
In the UK, The Stroke Association, a charity, helps sufferers of strokes and their families to cope, providing support and useful information as well as campaigning to promote awareness.
There are also various websites which offer useful information:

Top five reasons why people phone in work and fake being sick.

Top five reasons why people phone in work and fake being sick.

Most of us who have had a job, have phoned in work and pretended to be sick at some point or other. Although there are some people who seem to be disciplined enough to make it into work everyday, no matter what other issues they have going on in their life.
Those people, are to be avoided when you do phone in sick, especially if it is a fake sickness, because they are likely to have very little sympathy for you and possibly even tell you to come in work anyway.

Top five reasons why people call in work and fake being sick.

    5.  They woke up in a general 'can't be bothered' type mood and feel they deserve to have the day off. We all  have those days, and some of us just physically can't pull ourselves out of bed. It is fairly easy to put on that sick sounded voice on those occasions, because they are already in a feeling sorry for themselves type mood.

    4. There is a big event on, such as football or a concert etc. Most managers will be fully aware of these events already and will be expecting a few of the employees to phone in sick. Just don't be one of those who has tried to book the day off as a holiday, had the holiday refused and then pulls a sickie. You are more than likely going to be caught out, especially if there are others from your workplace who have successfully booked the day off and are attending the event. There is always somebody who will want to suck up to the boss and tell them where you really were.

    3. Your car won't start and you can't be bothered to use public transport. Sometimes people will even use this as an excuse for not turning up at work, and won't even bother to create a lie about being sick. The problem is, that some managers won't except that as an excuse and will expect you to find an alternative way of getting to work.  A colleague of mine, struggled to get to work in some very heavy snow a few years back, and a 30 minute journey had already turned into a 2hour journey. When she phoned up to say that she wouldn't be coming in due to the snow, she was told that she would be expected to be at work in the next hour! No sympathy there.

    2. They are being bullied by at least one other colleague, or their boss. This is one of those times when although they may not physically be sick, the thought of coming to work and being harassed and bullied, makes their life a misery and can cause high levels of stress. However, instead of trying to face the problem and discuss it with people at work, they let it get them down and prefer not to talk about it and fake being physically ill instead.

    1. The number one reason, if you haven't already guessed, is that they have drank to much alcohol the night before, even though they knew it was a work night. Now they have a hangover and can't face work. However instead of saying they are sick because they drank too much and it is a self inflicted illness, they pretend to be sick for some other reason. These are the types of excuses that don't go down too well, especially if you get caught, as they have no one but themselves to blame for the way they are feeling. The likelihood of someone spotting if you were out drinking in a pub or a club, is fairly high too. There always seems to be someone around who you wish hadn't seen you.

So there you have it, the top five reasons why people phone in sick. These aren't the excuses people make either. That is a whole different story. These are simply reasons as to why people feel the need to fake a sickness and take a day off work.

What to expect at The X Factor auditions.

What to expect at The X Factor auditions.

I'd like to start of with saying that the X Factor auditions I attended was at Old Trafford in Manchester on 17th March 2012. I'll also point out that I wasn't the one auditioning, but supporting my sister who was auditioning.
The first thing you will need to do is make sure you know the date and location of the X Factor audition you wish to attend. You will also need to read very carefully the details which are put up on the website for auditions t make sure you are there on time and also you know what the cut-off time is for the X Factor auditions you are attending.
If you are not a morning person and struggle to get up before 7am, then going to an audition like this may mean you have to put some extra effort in just to get to the specified venue in time to be in with a chance to audition.
For the day that we went to The X Factor auditions, we were told not to be there any later than 9am as it would be unlikely that we would be allowed to even queue if we were. Of course, you have to account for all the others that will be attending and those that even camped out the night before to get a good spot in the queue. With that in mind, we were up at 4am, with a plan to be there between 6.30am and 7am. We knew that it would take a while for us to get to the venue and therefor allowed enough time for this. We also made sure we knew the times of buses, trains and trams to get there, and made a timetable for ourselves.
When we arrived at the venue, there were some areas to park close by, but not at the actual venue itself, and having read the website, we already knew this and were told that it would be best not to drive there, unless you were being dropped off, as parking would be limited.
We arrived at the venue at around 6.45am and started queuing immediately. There were already approx 1000 people there, and there were plenty more behind us.
Once we finally got to a point where we were standing still, after snaking round all the barriers for about 20 minutes, we finally stood still and gave a sigh of relief. We'd made it, and looking in front of us, we weren't that badly placed.
I won't go on about my day in particular much more, but instead give you a few hints and tips of things you should take with you and what to expect.

Items you should take with you when auditioning for The X Factor.

    • An umbrella. ( we forgot ours and paid the consequences!)
    • Comfy shoes.  - You are likely to be stood in the queue for a minimum of 5 hours. Bring a pair to change into if necessary, after all you may have picked out an outfit that doesn't include your comfiest shoes.
    • If possible, bring a camping chair/seat. That will eliminate the need for comfy shoes to a degree and will also mean you can at least sit down for a while.
    • Take a picnik blanket or towel to sit on if you haven't got a camping chair. At least this way you can sit on the floor without dirtying your outfit. But be prepared to be shouted at and told to stood up during filming!!!!  There was a lot of that. Lol
    • Take sandwiches, drinks etc to keep you going. There are hot food carts around, but that'll mean needing to leave the queue, only to queue again and then having to find your place again, and if you're on your own, that may be difficult.  So with that, I would also suggest having someone with you if you can.
    • A coat, or a warm top. It can be cold standing around all day and the last thing you want to be doing is shivering, on top of the nerves that you may already have.
    • An ipod/mp3 player/magazine.  There will be big gaps where there isn't much going on and if you can pass the time listening to a few tracks or reading, it will make all the difference.

What to expect when auditioning for The X Factor.

    • Expect a very, very, very long day. So be prepared.
    • Expect a lot of repetition, especially whilst they are filming. The film crew made us repeat things over and over again, so they could get the shot they wanted. About 4 hours of filming for what will be about a couple of minutes footage on the t.v.
    • Expect to be waiting longer than expected.  There was a countdown clock for when the auditions started it was counting down from 3 hours. When it finally got to a minute, the whole crowd started to count down and then let out a huge cheer, followed by......... nothing. Because nothing happened.  Instead we waited for another 30 minutes or so just to be asked repeatedly to do the count down again, so that they could film it. Ugh.
    • Once you do start moving.. finally, expect to be waiting for at least another 2 hours, without really knowing what's going on, unless you are in the very first group that they take in.  We were sat in the Old Trafford stadium for about 2 hours without being told what was happening.
    • Expect to be singing whilst others are singing. The booths are all in one room and are pretty much material made pop-ups. So if you get easily distracted, then you certainly will be here. Whilst I was waiting for my sister, all I could hear was a muffled noise of different songs and singers. Some really loud and not great, others were really good and high pitched.  Enough to distract anyone who is trying to concentrate.
    • Lastly, and most importantly, expect to get a no.  Not because you can't sing, but because the simple fact is, they need to get numbers down to a more manageable number, so even if you're a fantastic singer, you're luck might just not be with you.  There were plenty of really good singers that were told 'no'.  Don't be discouraged by this, but except it. Don't be bitter, just take with you the experience of the day and use it to your advantage if you're planning to audition another time.

Hints and tips for people auditioning for The X Factor.

    • Wear something that will make you stand out from the crowd.  They randomly pick people out of the crowd for interviews and such. People who catch their attention are more likely to be these people. Although there were plenty of normally dressed people they picked too.  These are the type of people that will at the very least get put through to the auditions in front of the 'real' judges.
    • Get there as early as possible. You'll get a better view of what's going on and more likely to catch the attention of the film crew.
One last thing I would like to mention, and something that annoyed me greatly, was the amount of litter that people left. As we were moving round the barriers ready to go into the auditions, the litter just got worse and worse. There was no excuse for this. There were plenty bins around, and even if there hadn't have been, there is nothing stopping you taking a bag for your rubbish. It's not nice to see, shows a great lack of respect for other people and the environment, and most of all, is just damned lazy and inconsiderate.  The campers were the worst as the front of the queue was where the most litter was.

I invite you to add your comments and if you have had the experience of auditioning for the X Factor, share your story here, aswell as tips for others who wish to audition.

    My first Zujava payment.

    My first Zujava payment.

I signed up for Zujava whilst it was still in beta stage, (Jan 29 2012) which it only recently came out of.
Zujava is a site that is fairly similar to Squidoo in terms of what it has to offer.
Contributors to Zujava can earn money in various ways which include amazon sales, eBay sales and ad pool payments.

My first payment of $42.39 came on 17th May 2012, a few days late, but this can be forgiven as this was their first ever payout to contributors and there were a few glitches, which they informed us of via email.
This first Zujava payment was paid via paypal and you currently have to earn a minimum of $5.00 for payout.

I must admit, I was extremely surprised at how high my first payout was, but this will have included not only ad pool payments, but also sales from my leafs ( pages you create). On top of that I have a fair few referrals which will have contributed to the overall payment.
At the moment, Zujava do not break these payments down, but it is something they are working on and have planned for the future of the site.

Some contributors of the site reported earnings of only a few cents, whilst others have earned over $75.00.
For a first payout for a very new site, this is very encouraging, and having earned over $40 myself, I know this site is reputable and worth more of my time.

This is a site that I would recommend 100%, and whilst it is still new, it will be easy to navigate around and get used to. As they add more features, it may be more confusing for the average user.  This was the case for me when I first signed up for Squidoo. There was so much going on, it became very daunting and confusing and it took me over a year to actually give Squidoo a chance. Something I'm very glad I did as I have earned over $1000 from Squidoo so far.
Zujava have a very friendly forum where the owners of the site are more than willing to help out with any problems.

You can sign up for Zujava here: Zujava.com

Britain's Got Talent: Another Susan Boyle moment

Britain's Got Talent. Another Susan Boyle moment.

If you follow shows such as Britain's got talent, you may have already seen this, but if not, be prepared for another Susan Boyle moment.

Simon Cowells comments before the audition were a little disappointing, especially when he saw Susan Boyles audition first hand and created her into the global star she is today.
And here they are in the semi finals, which they won.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hiU7gkBYrA]

The rest of the show has been a little disappointing, especially the semi finals. When you get 45 semi finalists out of thousands of people who audition, you expect it to be fantastic, but yet it was not. Apart from maybe 4 or 5 other acts, this years show, yet again has been very poor.
But at least there will be a few future stars to come out of the show, such as Jonathan and Charlotte.

    Games we played as kids.

    Games we played as kids.

Walking home from town today, I saw something I haven't seen in a long time, mostly because kids today spend most of their time indoors playing on computer games. Although that has changed a little recently due to the popularity of scooters. Nearly every kid I do see out playing, is on a scooter.
But what I saw on my way home today was a couple of young kids playing curby.  If you know the game, you'll know what it is immediately, and if you spent your time outdoors as a youngster, like most of us did, the chances are, you played this game at some point. For those who don't remember or know the game, here it is:

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bl_xBBn4Jc8]

Yes, it's that game you played with a ball, trying to hit the curb of the pavement and have the ball return to you. You got extra points if you were able to catch the ball too. Although rules to this game varied, depending on who you played it with.  It was also one of those games where you were constantly looking out to see if there were any cars coming.
Other games we played, specifically in the school yard, and I'm sure they are still played today was tig or as some called it, tag. There were many variations of this game which included line tig, statues tig and stuck in the mud.  Do you remember any of these games?
Here's some kids playing Stuck in the Mud.

Kissy catch was also another popular game, although at the age I was playing it, most girls and boys found the other sex repulsive.
What's the time, Mr Wolf is another popular playground game, and was always one of my favourites.
Then of course, there were the games more popular with the girls, which were clapping games such as the one below:

I actually still do this with my sister now and again, more out of nostalgia then anything, and to try and teach my 3 year old niece.
What games do you remember playing when you were a kid?

Monetise Your Blog or Website with Viglink

Monetise Your Blog or Website with Viglink

If you have ever tried to monetise your blog or website with Google adsense or other ad networks, you may find that you are making some money, but not quite enough.  Adding even more ads to your page is annoying to visitors, especially pop up ads, so not ideal as you may lose readers.
So here is a way that will allow you to easily generate more money through your website or blog.
    Ever heard of Viglinks?

If not I will tell you a little bit about Viglinks now.

It is basically an affiliate site where you earn commission from sales and also clicks.  But this isn't just any affiliate site, this is a site that allows you to link to nearly 30,000 different affiliate/associate sites that are on the internet.  Including eBay and Amazon.

So if you have had trouble getting onto the eBay affiliate partner network, this is a simple solution.  By signing up to Viglinks all the hard work is done for you, and you can start earning commissions through sales.

All that is required is to paste a simple html into your blog or website and you can start earning.
If you sell or review items on your website, you simply have to place a link to the merchant, and if it one of the thousands that Viglink is associated with, then they will turn that link into an associate link and it can then potentially earn you money, depending on whether the particular associate pays based on sales or clicks.
Viglinks is also a very good idea to use, especially if you earn revenue through sales on Amazon.com for example, but are located in the U.K and are only able to receive cheques or vouchers as commission.  Cheques not only take time to arrive at your home, but you will most likely be charged a fee to bank them.
By using Viglinks and earning commission this way instead, you will get paid the commissions you have earned into your paypal account.  Although Viglinks will take a small percentage of your earnings of you, the fact that you now have thousands more of potential affiliate sites to use, outweighs this in my opinion.

Bubblews - A Great Site to Earn Money on.

Bubblews - A Great Site to Earn Money on.

Bubblews is a new site that allows you to earn money through writing.
It is a new site, but the set up looks very professional and you can earn from writing original content.  You also earn if people comment and like your work.  So if you have a good set of connections, and good articles, the potential to make money there is huge.
So far I have not read anything negative about Bubblews but have not seen any proof of earnings, which is something I usually like to see before putting any time or effort into a site. But as this site looks like it has had a lot of time spent on it, I will give it a go.
I am curious to know if anyone else has signed up there yet, if not you can do so here Bubblews.
Also if anyone has been paid and their impressions of the site.
From what I understand, you can redeem your earnings as soon as you reach the minimum threshold which is $25.
I have already submitted 2 pieces there and on top of my sign up bonus of $1.00, I have already earned $0.17. Money is updated instantly, which is a huge bonus and encouraging factor for me, as I am sure it is for others too.
    Current payment methods include :
    Paypal
    Check
    Visa Gift Card
and Buy Me This ( which I assume is a voucher).
So if you are looking for other ways to earn money online, I suggest checking out Bubblews.

    Third Payment from Bubblews Received

     Third Payment from Bubblews Received

Today I received my third successful payment from Bubblews.  A payment of just over $25, which is the minimum amount needed for withdrawal.
This is my third in a month though, meaning I have earned over $75 in a month on Bubblews and successfully been paid.
Bubblews currently is one of the best ways of making money online for newbies and established writers.  You can redeem your earnings as soon as you hit the $25 and considering you currently get 1 cent for every view, comment, like/dislike and social share of your page, it really isn't too hard to reach this amount.  There are ton's of payment proofs on Bubblews itself.  Some have made well over $500 on Bubblews already.
For payment proof and earnings see:

    Make a living on Bubblews

    Make a living on Bubblews
    Is it possible?
Well it certainly is achievable at the moment. Certainly more so than Triond.
Bubblews currently offers 1 cent each for every view, like and comment you receive on a post. What is even better is that each post only has to be a maximum of 400 characters. Not words. Characters.
So if you can get a combination of 1000 views, comments and likes on a post, you have earned yourself $10.
How many of you regularly gain that many views a day on places such as Triond, but get next to nothing for it?
    Yeah, me too!
For now, Bubblews is offering a much better deal, and their Google ranking isn't so bad either.
